Kids are rough on furniture, that is a fact. These beds are 100% solid wood construction. How do we do it? Volume is how we do it. Mattresses are not included but any standard twin will fit. Bunkie boards or slats are required. These beds are awesome and they are hand made in America by Americans. Built-in "End Ladders" are much more safer than the add-on type.
