This is an interesting souvenir medal marking the 1893 meeting and encampment of Union soldiers and supporters in Indianapolis Indiana. The massive event honoring the 27th annual GAR meeting was held at the former Camp Morton area. Thousands of Civil War veterans attended the gathering which lasted 2 days. It was estimated that 5000 of these medals were sold to veterans of both sides who attends the 2 day event. This is an actual 1893 medal made in Milwaukee Wisconsin not a reproduction.
